Aliano
Aliano is a small town in Lucania in the province of Matera. It is part of the authentic villages of Italy and the orange flag villages.
The writer Carlo Levi was confined to Aliano during the fascist period and it was here that he wrote his famous book, “Christ Stopped at Eboli.”
The Carlo Levi Literary Park was created precisely in memory of the writer from Turin. In his book Carlo Levi calls Aliano, Gagliano in Basilicata.
Our guide will show you the house where the writer lived, known as the house of confinement, Carlo levi’s tomb, and you can visit the historical museum dedicated to him.
