Acaya (province of Lecce). The place was once known as the “ancient village of Segine”. Acaya is a fraction of the municipality of Vernole (Le) of 450 inhabitants.

The village of Acaya  is a unique example of Salento fortified city and was fortified and reorganized from the urban point of view from military architect Gian Giacomo Dell ‘Acaya. The village is the only intact walled town in southern Italy.
