Since the Unesco World Heritage List was established in 1972, it has encompassed those areas of the earth that, due to their cultural or natural exceptionality, represent an irreplaceable wealth for mankind. Among the census sites, the highest concentration is found in Italy. In 1996, Alberobello (with its characteristic trulli) and Castel del Monte, the manor house located about one hundred kilometres north of the ‘Homeland of the Trulli’, were chosen to represent Apulia in the coveted selection.

Castel Del Monte is considered the most famous Frederick’s monument in the world.

An enchanting place located in the municipality of Andria and still full of mysteries. Its uniqueness lies in its octagonal plan. It was probably built by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia to celebrate his temporal power. Every element built, responds to particular astronomical and algebraic rules.
