When one thinks of Grottaglie, one thinks of the famous ceramics.

The town is located a few kilometres from Taranto and is included in the shortlist of Italy’s 37 ceramics cities. The tour of the town includes a walk through the famous Quartiere delle Ceramiche (around 50 workshops), some of which are located in very atmospheric caves, with the possibility, upon request, to admire the various production procedures of the characteristic artefacts live. We then proceed to the Episcopio Castle with its adjoining Permanent Ceramics Museum, where we can admire everyday objects, devotional objects, sculptures, shaped over the centuries by the skilful hands of local artists.  Then on to the Mother Church with its dome decorated with coloured tiles.
