Trani

In Trani you can admire the queen of Apulia’s cathedrals!

Dedicated to St Nicholas Pellegrino and considered a splendid example of Apulia Romanesque architecture; it is located on the sea like

the nearby Castle built by Frederick II in 1233. The walk along the harbour and through the Jewish quarter, with its synagogues, of which the 13th-century Scolanova is a landmark, is very picturesque. The guided tour of Trani can be combined, for a full day’s service, with that of Castel del Monte or Barletta or even Andria, known as the city of the three bell towers and in which there is one of the world’s narrowest streets, 42 cm wide at its narrowest point, and the ‘Museo del Confetto’ (Museum of Confectionery) where, on request, confetti of various flavours and colours can be tasted, such as the ‘tenerelli’, chocolate-filled confetti, typical of Andria.
